The Funding Network: Festive event 2022
Following a round of successful pitching and interviews in the autumn, stormbreak was invited to take part in The Funding Network’s 2022 festive event on Thursday 8th December.
The Funding Network is an open network which links potential donors to charitable causes and entrepreneurs through live crowdfunding. They aim to raise money for small nonprofits driving social change and help both individuals and businesses to combine their giving with others, to make a bigger impact.
Pitching alongside two other fantastic charities, stormbreak co-founder and CEO Dr Martin Yelling spoke about the work we do with trusted adults to support children through mentally healthy movement. The festive event is a chance for charities to take part in live crowdfunding, both with people present in the room and those watching the event live online. Stormbreak were pitching for £10,000 to support costs of fundraising and charitable activities.
Following on from two brilliant pitches by Pro Veg International (UK) and Climate Emergency UK, Martin had just six minutes to tell the story of what we do at stormbreak through our mentally healthy movement projects in schools, with looked after children and foster families, and through our new digital referral programme for children with emerging difficulties, stormbreak Shine. The floor was then opened for questions and an unexpected guest appearance from parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt who was attending the event as one of stormbreak’s trustees.

We were humbled and truly grateful for all of the pledges that came in during the subsequent rounds of pledging which will allow us to grow our team and reach out for further funding opportunities in 2023. We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who donated on the night and supported our pitch, and to The Funding Network for the opportunity.
